Lauren + Matthew were married November 2020 in Tulum. Roque and I met Lauren at different moments when we lived in Guadalajara, then four or five years back Lauren and Matthew visited Oaxaca where we made some random night portraits at our house. Turns out, one of those portraits they’ve had framed next to their bed ever since, their first picture as a couple we serendipitously made. So it was extra special and truly full circle when they asked us to photograph their wedding. These two are something special, their ways of being in the world, the most genuine, loving and kind beings; so real it’s refreshing, deeply connected and madly in love. Hurricanes, a pandemic, canceled flights and a torrential rainstorm during their ceremony; even with all of the obstacles they made it happen, safely and with immense love overflowing every second of the way.
